Application and Registration

To attend the conference, you must first apply through the central APS CUWiP application site.  Registration for the conference can only happen after you have received a notice from the APS that you have been accepted. The application period is September 1 to November 1, 2013, and you will be informed of your acceptance by the end of November 2013.

When you send in your application, it will be evaluated by the local organizing committee of the conference to which you applied (i.e. the conference that is closest to your anticipated location, January 17, 2014). At LSU we expect to be able to accept most or all of our applicants, but in case we have to limit acceptance, preference will be given to students who have not before attended a CUWiP.

Once you are accepted, you will be asked to register, also through a central APS site. Upon registration you will be asked to pay a $25 registration fee. Lodging, food, and tours will be provided to all attendants by the conference. We encourage you to ask your department to help you with travel expenses. However, we hope to be able to offer a limited number of travel stipends. As we get closer to the conference we will help organize car-pooling groups to keep travel costs low.

When you register, you will be asked if you are interested in presenting a research poster. We will have the opportunity for a few poster presenters to also give a short oral presentation. Presenting a poster is not a requirement for attending the conference, but we do encourage all students who have been involved in research to bring a poster.

Note: only undergraduate students are eligible to attend the conference. Strong preference will be given to physics majors (if you haven't declared your major but are seriously considering physics you may still apply).
