We look forward to welcoming you to Louisiana State University (LSU) for the Jan 2023 MicroBooNE Collaboration Meeting! The collaboration meeting will take place Tuesday, Jan 17 through Friday, Jan 20.

Venue

The meeting will be held at the 4th floor of Nicholson Hall (Department of Physics and Astronomy), located at LSU main campus in Baton Rouge, LA. The entrance to the building can be found on the western side of Tower Drive, to the west of the Student Union.

Getting to LSU

• From Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport (BTR)
  • 15-min drive to the LSU campus.
  • Local Taxi Service: Yellow Cab of Baton Rouge may be reached at (225) 926-6400 or booked in advance at brtaxi.com.
• From New Orleans International Airport (MSY)
  • 1-hour drive to the LSU campus.
  • The shuttle service can be booked at Tiger Airport Shuttle.
• Regional Bus Service
  • Megabus offers transportation from Baton Rouge to New Orleans as well as San Antonio and Houston, TX. Reservations should be made online at us.megabus.com. Megabus departs from downtown Baton Rouge on Florida Street, between Lafayette Street and N. 3rd Street. (The Downtown-Vet School route of Tiger Trails offers service from campus to this location.)
  • Greyhound offers direct service from Baton Rouge to New Orleans; Beaumont and Houston, TX; Mobile and Montgomery, AL; and Atlanta, GA. The Baton Rouge Greyhound Station is located at 1253 Florida Boulevard, Baton Rouge, LA 70802.

We have a limited number of guest rooms reserved for the collaboration meeting and the conference rate is guranteed only if booked by Dec 19, 2022. The Cook hotel is 15-20 min walk, 5-min drive to the conference venue.

Parking

• Ample complimentary self parking is available for the Cook Hotel guests.
• LSU visitor parking information can be found at this webpage.
  • The visitor permit parking zones (commuter parking and zone "X" in this map) is around the perimeter of the main campus.
  • The metered parking lots are across the campus and first-come-first-served.
• Other than the abovementiond options, a number of reserved parking lots in the Union Square Parking Garage by Barnes and Noble (5-10 min walk to the conference venue) may be available to our collaboration meeting at a rate of $18 per day. Please choose this option when registering the meeting if you want to reserve such a parking lot.

Special Event

We are going to visit LIGO Livingston Observatory (LLO) on Friday Jan 20 afternoon after lunch. LLO is one-hour drive to the LSU campus and this time they can offer an outdoor site-wide tour, a tour of the science education center, *possibly* a control-room tour, and an introductory talk of some kind. It'll take about 2 hours on site.

We should be able to drive our own cars to LLO. All adults who come indoors at LLO have to show COVID vaccination. LLO will automate this by providing an upload web site. Please choose this option when registering the meeting if you'd like to vist LLO.

Dining

At the in-person meeting we will have coffee breaks.

For lunch and dinner, there are various options nearby. The closest are on campus and you can find them here. The locations can be found in this map. The Student Union and the Club at Union Square are the most convenient options (a few minutes walk from the conference venue) for your lunch.

We will have the collaboration dinner on Wednesday Jan 18. The restaurant has yet to be decided. Please choose this option when registering the meeting if you'd like to come. The collaboration dinner is not included in the registration fee.

COVID Guidelines

While masks are not required on campus this fall, they are still encouraged in crowded spaces indoors or for those who are at risk of having a more severe case of COVID-19 due to pre-existing conditions.
