Training of Graduate and Post-Graduate Students

Undoubtedly, one of the most important (if not the most important) missions of university based research is training the next generation of scientists.

Of the ~90 students and postdocs that I have worked with, approximately 35% are employed in the private sector, 25% in government facilities and 40% in universities, while 40% of the graduate students work in industry. This group of students and Postdocs includes high level private sector executives, directors of institutes and national facilities, a vice president of university, a dean, several department chairs, a poet, a lawyer, and a member of the National Academy of Sciences.
