These are alternative projects (authored by J. Sethna) for the first quarter of Introduction to Solid State Physics. These projects may be done instead of a materials review. To count as class projects for this course they should be done as well-documented mathematica notebooks. That is, the solutions should be more than a set of undocumented equations: the accompanying text should be sufficient to fully describe the formalism and physics of the problem. If you want to do one of these projects, instead of a materials review project, then please send me an email (jarrell@physics.uc.edu).
