Postdoctoral Researcher/Senior Postdoctoral Researcher
experimental neutrino physics

The experimental particle physics group at Louisiana State University invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher or senior postdoctoral researcher to work with the neutrino group on the T2K experiment.

The T2K experiment is designed to search for the appearance of electron neutrinos in a nearly pure beam of muon neutrinos. We will also perform precision measurements of neutrino oscillations by means of measuring the disappearance of muon neutrinos. T2K uses the novel approach of an off-axis beam and will start collecting data later this year.

The successful candidate will be expected to take a leading role in data analysis and contribute to detector commissioning of the T2K near detector. Ability and willingness to periodically travel to Japan are required. Formal requirements are a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in experimental particle physics or related discipline (both positions). (Senior Postdoctoral Researcher): three years postgraduate experience. Candidates should have good programming skills. Experience with C++, Root and GEANT 4 are an advantage.

Salary and title will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Further information may be obtained from: Professor Thomas Kutter - E-mail:

Applicants should submit an application letter, a brief statement of research interests, a curriculum vitae with a list of publications to
LSU Systems Careers.

Applicants should arrange for three letters of reference to be emailed or sent directly to:
