This lecture gives a short introduction about photometry of normal stars, together with a clarification of the needs for proper standardization. The principles of standard photometry are elucidated with some examples of light and color curves of variable stars, with special attention to photometry of exotic objects, such as cataclysmic variables, massive and explosive stars, and non-stellar objects.
