From the Baton Rouge Metro Airport
Traffic into and out of the Baton Rouge Metro Airport flows in a counter clockwise direction, so that you will leave the airport via the road on your right as you leave the terminal.
Exit terminal on Sally Ride Ave. Reach stop sign at corner of Sally Ride Ave. and Veterans' Memorial Blvd. Turn left onto Veteran's Memorial Blvd. Reach intersection of Veteran's Memorial Blvd. and Harding Blvd. There is a traffic light at this intersection, and it is the first traffic light you will encounter after leaving the airport. Following the sign marked "I-110 South", make a right turn onto Harding Blvd. 5-10 meters before reaching the intersection. Pass underneath the overpass and immediately turn right onto the entrance ramp of I-110 - I-110 terminates at I-10. Follow the sign that says "I-10 East to New Orleans". Take the Dalrymple Drive exit. You will exit from the right hand lane. There is a traffic light at the foot of the exit ramp (for convenience, this will be traffic light #1) - turn right onto Dalrymple Drive.
From the New Orleans International Airport
Leaving the New Orleans International Airport, you will go left on Highway 61/Airline Highway to Williams Blvd. where you will take another left turn. Go straight on Williams Blvd. to get onto I-10 West to Baton Rouge. The distance will be approximately 70 miles. When you get to Baton Rouge, you will begin to see exit signs for Essen Lane, College Drive, and Acadian Thruway - pay close attention. The next exit will be the Dalrymple Drive exit. Take this exit from the right hand lane. You will then curve to the right (yield) onto Dalrymple Drive. You will come to a traffic light underneath the interstate overpass (for convenience, this will be traffic light #1).
Getting to the LSU Campus
Go straight from traffic light #1. At traffic light #2 on Dalrymple Drive (University Lakes on the left) keep driving straight. At traffic light #3 at Dalrymple Drive and E. State Street, keep driving straight - Dalrymple Drive will curve to the right. Keep driving straight to traffic light #4 at Highland Road.
When traveling across Highland Road on Dalrymple Drive, the first building is the Visitor Registration and Information Center - Pleasant Hall is the next building on your right. If you are driving a car, you will need to stop at the Registration Center to obtain a visitor's parking tag for the days you will be parking on campus.
You will NOT be able to park anywhere around the Dept. of Physics and Astronomy building, due to the current construction and renovation.
To the Faculty Club
Exit the Visitor's Information Center parking lot by turning left on Dalrymple Drive and then a quick right turn onto Highland Road. Take Highland Road to the next traffic light which will be Rapheal Semmes Road. The Faculty Club will be on the left corner. Take a left onto Rapheal Semmes Road - parking will be on the left behind the Faculty Club.
To the Department of Physics & Astronomy from the Faculty Club
(DRIVING) You will NOT be able to park anywhere around the Dept. of Physics and Astronomy building, due to the current construction and renovation.
(WALKING) go to the corner of Highland Road and Rapheal Semmes Road and walk through the intersection crossing over Highland Road. The building on your left is the Student Union and the large grassy area to your right is the Parade Grounds. Walk straight along the front of the Student Union until you reach the next street - Tower Drive. The building directly in front of you should be Coates Hall and the building to the left of Coates Hall is Nicholson Hall with PHYSICS ASTRONOMY on the front of the older building.
Directions to Shopping Areas
Leaving the Faculty Club, go back to the traffic light at Rapheal Semmes Road and Highland Road - take a left turn onto Highland Road. Travel Highland Road to South Stadium Dr. (second traffic light from the Faculty Club) where you will take a left turn. Travel South Stadium Drive all the way to the traffic light at Stanford Ave. where you will take a left turn - you will be traveling north on Stanford Ave.
Directions to the Mall of Louisiana -This is our brand new shopping mall - very big and very nice! From the LSU campus, you have three(3) options:
[1] leaving the Faculty Club, go back to the traffic light at Rapheal Semmes Road and Highland Road - take a left turn onto Highland Road. Follow Highland Road all the way to Bluebonnet Blvd. Traveling on Highland Road from LSU to Bluebonnet Blvd., the distance is approximately 10 miles. Take a left turn onto Bluebonnet Blvd. - from there you will travel on Bluebonnet until you cross over Perkins Road. Keep traveling straight on Bluebonnet - the Mall of Louisiana will be on your right. This drive is one of the prettiest areas of Baton Rouge. Highland Road is considered a historic scenic route; OR
[2] you will travel north on Stanford Ave. to Perkins Road. At Perkins Road, you will take a right turn. You will continue straight on Perkins Road, traveling through several traffic lights - College/Lee Drive, Quail Run, Kenilworth Blvd., Essen Lane/Staring Lane, and the next intersection will be Bluebonnet Blvd. - you will take a left turn onto Bluebonnet Blvd. After a mile or so, the mall will be on your right; OR
[3] you will travel north on Stanford Ave. - keep traveling straight across Perkins Road onto Acadian Thruway to the interstate - taking I-10 East. Traveling on I-10 East, you will come to the "split" where I-12 East goes to Hammond and I-10 East goes to New Orleans. Stay to the far right lane and take I-10 East to New Orleans. Traveling on I-10 East until you get to the Bluebonnet Blvd. exit. Take this exit and go right on Bluebonnet - the mall will be on your left - it is hard to miss. Directions to the Tanger Outlet Mall -
This is a fairly new outlet mall. From LSU campus, you will travel north on Stanford Ave./Acadian Thruway to the interstate - taking I-10 East. Traveling on I-10 East, you will come to the "split" where I-12 East goes to Hammond and I-10 goes to New Orleans - stay in the far right lane and take I-10 East to New Orleans. Traveling on I-10 East until you get to the LA Hwy. 30 exit in Gonzales (~25 minutes from LSU). The outlet mall is very hard to miss on the right hand side of the interstate.
