RESEARCH INTERESTS
I work in the field of neutrino physics, a very fast-moving and exciting field that has seen tremendous growth over the last decade. Most of my effort has been in the construction and operation of large detectors such as IMB, Super-Kamiokande, and KamLAND - but I also work on experiments at accelerators (such as the new T2K experiment) and at reactors. Currently, I am U.S. co-Spokesman for the Double Chooz experiment - which seeks to make the first measurement of the third and final (unknown) neutrino mixing angle. Measurement of this angle is a crucial step toward looking for possibly large CP-violating effects in neutrinos and finding an answer to the question of why the universe has so much matter and only a tiny amount of anti-matter.
