"Day and Night at the Museum"

Ashley Pagnotta, Postdoctoral Researcher
American Museum of Natural History

Abstract:

I will talk about a variety of topics, centering around what it means to be an astronomy researcher and educator at the American Museum of Natural History, one of the largest museums in the world and home to hundreds of Ph.D. scientists and educators. Working as a postdoc at AMNH has given me unique insights into the current state of science, as viewed by both academics and the general public. I will touch a bit on my research, my grad school and postdoc/early career experiences, and some of the opportunities that are available for young physicists and astronomers interested in education and public outreach, specifically at institutions like AMNH.
