SYLLABUS:

This course will cover Chapters 18-22, 24-27, and 29-32 of Cutnell and Johnson electricity and magnetism, light, and an introduction to modern physics (quantum mechanics, atomic physics, nuclear physics, radiation). Throughout the course, example problems from the MCAT exam will be used extensively.
TEXT:
PHYS 2002, Cutnell & Johnson, 8th Edition, Volume 2.
TESTS:
There will be three 1-hour tests given either Wednesday evenings 6:00-7:00 PM or during class approximately on the following dates:
- Test 1 - September 23, 2009 - Ch. 18-21 - Formula Sheet - Solutions
- Test 2 - October 21, 2009 - Ch. 18-25 (emphasis on 22-25) - Formula Sheet - Solutions
- Test 3 - November 18, 2009 - Ch. 18-29 (emphasis on 25-29) - Formula Sheet - Solutions
⇒ ⇒ ⇒ The Final Exam will be Tuesday, December 8, 2009 - 12:30-2:30 PM, and will cover Ch. 18-32.
HOMEWORK INSTRUCTIONS:
All homework will be done electronically using the WebAssign on-line homework system. Please register at WebAssign as soon as possible. Instructions are given in the syllabus. The first homework assignment is due Monday, August 31, 2009 at 11:59 PM.
- You can submit your answers up until the due date. At that point, the solutions will be available.
- Your grades will be tabulated after every assignment. You can check your cumulative grades on the WebAssign web site at any point.
- If you have problems, please feel free to come see your instructor.
