Important Information about Homework Assignments

Physics-1100 will use the WebAssign on-line homework system. A student access code for WebAssign is included with the purchase of a new copy of the textbook. Go to

https://www.webassign.net/login.html

to register and find information about using the system. If you are not purchasing a new textbook you will have to pay a registration charge to use the system. It may be paid on-line or at the Union bookstore. The "class key" you will need to self-enroll into WebAssign is published in the syllabus.

Several key points you must be aware of:
Do your calculations carefully. The system will accept as a correct answer only values within about two per cent of the nominal answer. This means you will generally need to express results to at least three significant figures.
We have configured the system to allow you five chances to submit a problem for grading. There will not be a penalty for multiple submissions, but after five tries you will no longer be able to submit that problem for grading and you will receive the grade that resulted from your last (fifth) submission.
Remember that when the deadline arrives (always11:59 pm on the due date) you will no longer be permitted to submit an assignment, even if you are currently logged on to the system.

Note: Many of the documents on these pages are made available in "portable document format" indicate by the ".pdf" file type. They can be viewed and/or printed efficiently using a program called "Adobe Acrobat Reader," which is often included with web browser packages. If your browser does not include Acrobat Reader you can download it for free directly from Adobe.
