Application Make Ellipsoid

Through the following application, you may construct a three-dimensional, VRML "image" of any triaxial ellipsoid. In the following boxes, enter, respectively:
  1. xmax º length of the longest axis of the triaxial ellipsoid.
    0.0 < xmax < 10.0;

  2. ymax º length of the intermediate axis of the triaxial ellipsoid.
    0.0 < ymax < xmax;

  3. zmax º length of the shortest axis of the triaxial ellipsoid.
    0.0 < zmax < ymax;

  4. The number of divisions into which you want to cut each axis of the ellipsoid in order to calculate the vertices on its surface. (The compute time required increases at least as the square of this number, so don't make it very large! I recommend setting it to 16 or 32 to start with.)

<== Press this button after you've typed in the desired axis ratios of your ellipsoid.
