Ellipsoidal Figures of Equilibrium

Assignment (by J.E. Tohline):

As part of this Hypertext_Book I have developed a Java Applet that attempts to bring to life Figure 15 (p. 147) from Chapter 7 of Chandrasekhar's book on Ellipsoidal Figures of Equilibrium. In addition, I have developed a crude application entitled "Make Ellipsoid" through which the reader can create a solid, ellipsoidal VRML object that exhibits an arbitrary ellipsoidal shape. You should develop a smooth interface between these two tools. Ideally, inside the Java Applet, the reader should be able to "click" on any spot in the square box that defines the b/a - c/a parameter space and have a VRML image of the selected object returned.

Once this primary task has been completed, you also should attempt to enhance the physical properties of the VRML image by:
